57 of Best and Cheapest Places to Eat in Amsterdam

It might sound odd, but I think its the right way to go about travelling aka life. I plan my travel days around the places I want to eat. This post was going to be an “Ultimate Amsterdam Bucket List” but when I started on the food section I couldn’t stop and the next thing you know this post became a list of 57 Places to Eat in Amsterdam.

Amsterdam has on my travel list for quite some time And if you can’t already tell, Amsterdam is now on the top of my travel list, seeing as I was able to find 57 Places I want to Eat at in Amsterdam.

I also want to preface by saying that, yes you can find cheaper eats, but these were the tastiest looking best and cheapest Places to Eat in Amsterdam. Also that even though I separated them, many of these places serve all the meal options you need, so if you try one, like it chances high that you can eat multiple of your meals there.

If you are travelling to Amsterdam as part of your European adventure, makes sure to check out my best places to eat in London, where to eat in Paris, and if you are going to Budapest, I have a 3 day itinerary with places to eat recommendations throw-in.

Places to Eat in Amsterdam: Coffee Shops

I don’t coffee, I do however appreciate the smell of coffee, the people watching I get to do at coffee shops, the pastries in coffee shops and a good tea latte. So what I am saying is although all these places had all had raving reviews about their coffee I mainly based my picks on places I want to try on looks and instagramable-ness. That’s right, these choices were based on looks and looks alone.

With my honestly out of the way, I’m pretty sure Amsterdam invented the hipster vibe so you know,  no matter what coffee shop you end up in you know it’s going to be a kickass one.

Places to Eat in Amsterdam: Brunch & Breakfast

Some call in breakfast, I call it brunch because to me sounds cooler, therefore, it make me feel cooler. But in reality, I like to start my days earlier when I am traveling (6-7am). And when I first wake up, I am actually not that hungry, I tend to gravitate to a pretty small breakfast, and I usually eat that at home or grab something small from a coffee shop to save a bit of money when I am traveling, leaving a nice big place in my tummy for Brunch.

We went to Blue Amsterdam and the food was very good. I had a red beet and feta vegetarian burger that was excellent. My husband had the scrambled eggs in avocado toast, pretty much as good as it gets.

Your list is missing the Foodhallen, which is not technically a restaurant per say, more like a food court. The food there is to die for. It’s really a go-to place for me. Everything we had there was amazingly good and the desert was to die for (I-Scream Waffle).

We also went to Cafe Loetje, apparently it’s a chain, but this one had a very nice vibe. The one we went to (Johannes Vermeerstraat 52) we really enjoyed. There seemed to be only local people there. The steak was very good (their specialty), we shared a meal ( the steak is very big and comes with a large plate of fries and a very big salad that I still dream about).
